Google has released yet another killer application for the webmasters, Page Speed. Google is using Page Speed internally to optimize their web pages and now it is released to the public as an open source application.
Page Speed is actually an add-on integrated with Firebug. When you run Page Speed on a web page real time suggestions are shown which can be used to optimize a web page. For example, Page Speed automatically optimizes images for you, giving you a compressed image that you can use immediately on your web site. It also identifies issues such as JavaScript and CSS loaded by your page that wasn’t actually used to display the page, which can help reduce time your users spend waiting for the page to download and display.
The add on can be downloaded from here. You can join the Page Speed community for sharing your thoughts about this add on. Here are the instructions for setting up Page Speed.
