Here is a nice little Windows 7 hack that will let you search the Internet directly from the Start Menu. You can search the Internet for the phrase you typed in the Start Menu. The Search Result will open in the default Web Browser.
Here’s how you can enable it
1. Press Windows + R and type gpedit.msc. Press Enter.
2. From the left side open User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar.
3. On the right hand side double click on “Add Search Internet Link to Start Menu”.
4. Select “Enabled” and click Apply.
That’s it now a “Search the Internet” link is shown whenever you perform a search in the start menu search box. This button launches the default browser with the search terms.
