There is a new feature in Windows 7 that lets you preview files directly in Windows Explorer. You can preview images, music and videos in the preview pane. It must be noted that not all file formats are supported.
Here is how you can enable the preview pane in Windows Explorer
1. Open Windows Explorer.
2. Click Organize > Layout > Preview Pane.
3. To Disable the Preview Pane click the Preview Pane Option again.

Tip: You can also use Alt + P as a shortcut to enable or disable the Preview Pane.
