Who doesn’t know about TinyURL, the popular URL shortening service that is used widely to share links over email, IM’s etc. Here is another URL shortening service launched by Betaworks that goes by the name of Bit.ly. It is still in its nascent stages but it will give a close competition to TinyURL with its advanced feature set.

Google unveils their new 3D virtual world by the name ‘Lively‘. It is a Web-based project that is similar to Second life. Lively allows users to create highly personalized 3D rooms on the web. Users will have their own 3D avatars and custom characters. Photos & videos can also be embedded on the walls of the 3D virtual rooms. These rooms can also be  embedded on a website or a blog through a code snippet.

Google has added yet another security feature in Gmail that helps you to track recent sessions & sign out remotely. You can access this feature by clicking on the ‘Details‘ link in the footer, it will show your latest activity & locations where your email can be accessed.

If the account is open in a remote location than it will show the IP Address, which you can track.

Rsizr is an online Flash based image resizing application. It lets you resize JPG, PNG, and GIF images on your computer. In addition to resizing it also allow you to crop & rescale your images. It uses a new image resizing algorithm called seam carving that tries to keep intact areas in your image that are richer in detail.
